THE LIST

Toronto theatrical producer-director Stéphanie Ouaknine directs the Governor-General Award-winning play The List, by Jennifer Tremblay, in English through Feb. 15 at the La Chapelle theatre, 3700 rue St-Dominique. Ouaknine, the daughter of well known community figure Léon Ouaknine, is involved in both French- and English-language productions and has won praise for how she has integrated projection into this production. SPEAK UP!

Bernie Weinstein speaks about Speak Up!, a campaign to educate the pubic about its rights and responsibilities as patients in regard to preventable adverse events and medical errors, 10 a.m. Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors. Weinstein chairs the campaign, launched in 2011 as part of the Jewish General Hospital’s quality program.

ISRAELI FILM FESTIVAL

The Montreal premiere of writer and director Reshef Levi’s 2013 box office hit, the Israeli crime comedy Hunting Elephants (Latzud Pilim), is on at 8 p.m. at the Dollar Cinema in Decarie Square as the last screening of the Jewish Public Library’s Israeli Film Festival 2014. The plot revolves around the robbery of a bank as retribution for it not paying compensation to a boy whose father has died. Starring Gil Blank, Sasson Gabai, Moni Moshonov and Patrick Stewart. BROKEN HEART BLESSINGS

American-born Israeli author Sherri Mandell, whose 13-year-old son, Koby, along with his friend Yosef were murdered by terrorists in the West Bank in 2001, speaks 7 p.m. at Chabad of Westmount, 4 Westmount Square, suite 110 (doors open at 6:30 p.m.). Registration has already begun for spring preschool programs at the Jewish Public Library’s Norman Berman Children’s Library that begin in March. They include Mostly Music (Wednesdays with Linda Kravitz), Rhythm, Rhyme and Story Time (Mondays and Tuesdays), and rounding out the week: Mother Goose & Music, Drop-In Storytime, Music & Movement, and Shabbat and Me.
