LOTS ABOUT CLOTS

Women of all ages are invited to hear about their blood-clot risk from Jewish General Hospital experts at a Café Scientifique at Java U Côte des Neiges, 6:30-8:30 p.m. A woman who suffered from clots during pregnancy will also speak. SENIOR PLAYERS

Residents of the Manoir Montefiore in Côte St. Luc perform Nothin’ the Matter with Me at 2 p.m., a series  of comedy skits about situations that seniors find themselves in. Actor Lois Dellar has been coaching the late-blooming thespians. The skits were written by her husband James Milvain and Place Kensington resident Jack Cobb.

MUSICAL SHABBAT

ISRAEL TV EXECUTIVE

Ron Leshem, an executive for one of Israel’s main television networks, who oversaw the development of Homeland, will give a talk in Hebrew at the Jewish Public Library at 7 p.m. about his latest novel, The Amateur Revolutionary. He is also the author of Beaufort, which was the basis for the Oscar-nominated movie of the same title.

On March 24 at 7 p.m., Leshem will speak in English about Israel’s growing relationship with Hollywood and the global expansion of the country’s young TV industry. He’ll be introduced by novelist Glen Rotchin. Reservations, 514-345-6416.

FUNNY JEWS

Jewish National Fund presents an exclusive screening of the Canadian documentary When Jews Were Funny at the Pepsi AMC Forum Cineplex at 6:30 p.m. It will be followed by a discussion with its producer Jesse Ikeman. This exploration of the evolution of Jewish comedy from the “Borsht Belt” to the present won the best Canadian feature  award at last fall’s Toronto International Film Festival. The Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors is among seven Montreal organizations participating in Clara’s Big Ride, six-time Olympic medalist Clara Hughes’ 12,000-km bicycle trek across Canada to raise awareness about mental health, which began March 14. The highlight in Montreal is a free concert tonight at the Bell Centre, featuring singer Serena Ryder, the band Coeur de Pirate, and Hughes speaking on behalf of the Bell Let’s Talk initiative. Adrienne Gold of Toronto, a former CTV and Life Channel fashion personality, who left her career about 15 years ago to reclaim her Jewish spiritual roots, is scholar-in-residence during the March 28-30 weekend at Adath Israel Congregation, sponsored by the sisterhood.
