DREAMING NOW

MEN VS. BREAST CANCER

Congregation Shaar Hashomayim music director Stephen Glass, cantor Gideon Zelermyer and the synagogue choir, in association with the sisterhood, for the fourth time present a special concert benefiting Breast Cancer Action Montreal, called “All the Things You Are: A Concert for the Women We Love,” 8 p.m. Taking the lead are Shaar men from families affected by breast cancer. RABBI FISHMAN INSTALLED

Rabbi Mark Fishman will be installed as spiritual leader at Congregation Beth Tikvah in Dollard des Ormeaux in a ceremony conducted by rabbi emeritus Mordecai Zeitz and Efrat chief rabbi Shlomo Riskin, who gave Rabbi Fishman smichah in Israel, accompanied by cantor Yossi Pomerantz. ALUMNUS COTLER

Herzliah High School alumnus and Liberal MP Irwin Cotler met recently with the school’s Secondary V students and impressed them with his customary eloquence. He was accompanied by chief of staff Howard Liebman and other participants, including head of school Laurence Kutler, Judaic studies assistant director David Azerad and Israeli advocacy teacher Howard Silbiger.

Bialik High School vice-principal Marnie Stein has been named to succeed Adina Matas as principal of Jewish People’s and Peretz Schools as of July 2014. Matas remains in her position until the end of the school year as JPPS marks its centennial. It was also announced that Bialik principal Ken Scott has extended his contract through the 2014-15 school year.
